MARY JONES
With sorrow, the family of Mary Anne Jones announces her death.
Mary Anne, of Westerville, Ohio and formerly of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed on from this earth to Heaven on Friday afternoon, August 3rd, in the presence of her two children, Marty and Camille. She is survived by son Marty Jones (wife Lori) of Bexley and Camille Hansen (husband Steve), of Dublin, Ohio. Grandchildren Isabella, Arianna, Tommy, Collette, step- granddaughter, Lizzie. Born in Wheeling, West Virginia on December 10, 1932, daughter of the late Joseph Albertine, Helen Kuczek Albertine Koopman.
Mary Anne was preceded in death by her husband and lifelong companion Bob, and her sisters, Elizabeth Albertine and Alberta Albertine Sabatino Brown.
Mary Anne retired from Ohio Education Association (OEA).
Following retirement and the birth of her first granddaughter, Isabella, in 2005 she found enormous joy in her grandchildren, and in spending time with her son and daughter and their families.
Mary Anne spent several years volunteering on the Suicide Hotline, where she undoubtedly helped suffering individuals and saved lives. She took strength and comfort from her faith, and enjoyed attending services at St. Paul’s Parish in Westerville, Ohio, and in the spiritual teachings of the Catholic church. From her early years
Mary Anne loved to travel, and enjoyed the water. As a young woman she would escape with her girl-friends to the beaches of Wildwood NJ among other places.
As an adult she explored the world, adventuring with her husband Bob to Hong Kong, Egypt, Russia and Istanbul, and walked with reindeer at the North Pole. Following Bob’s passing she explored Australia and New Zealand with Marty, and the streets of Paris with both children. While she never made the trip, she longed to step foot on the frozen soil of Antarctica. Mary Anne loved fine dining, champagne, and the color yellow. For the past several years she could be spotted in her yellow Honda Fit, sporting a yellow purse, and in the winter wearing an elegant yellow coat against the cold. The color suited her, bright, energetic, effervescent. Yellow lights the sky at dawn, bringing warmth, energy and life to the world.
Mary Anne’s spirit, smile, wit, perseverance in the face of adversity, and passion for life will be missed, but she will be remembered by her friends and family with joy, love, and smiles.
Services in honor of Mary Anne’s life will be held at St. Paul’s church in Westerville (313 N State St, Westerville, OH 43082) at 11a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, by Father David E. Gwinner serving as Celebrant.
A remembrance lunch will follow the mass.
Calling hours will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home (1400 Eoff Street Wheeling, WV 26003) from 11a.m.-1p.m. Wednesday August 8.
Funeral service and her burial at Greenwood Cemetery will immediately follow.
