Ruby Jo (Meade) Magnone, 90, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2017, in Mission Viejo, CA.

She was born on March 6, 1927, in Mingo County, WV (near Williamson), the daughter of the late G. Wayne and Virginia (Burgess) Meade.

She had wonderful hospitality and was an amazing cook. She and her husband hosted Bible studies in their home for years. One of the Bible studies along with a couple of other home studies eventually grew into The Vineyard Church of Wheeling. She will be fondly remembered for her deep love of family and for her dedication to prayer and evangelical Christian ministries.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Albert V. Magnone, in 2011.

Ruby Jo is survived by her children, Jo Lynn DeGolia of Buffalo, NY, and V. Brian (Marlene) Magnone of Mission Viejo, CA; brother, O. Jack Meade of Macedonia, OH; four grandsons, J.B. (Jaclyn) and Joe DeGolia, Ian (Rachael) and Allen (Jana) Magnone; and 3 great-grandchildren, Clark, Daniel, and Kinsley. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, WV, where services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 13, 2018, with Pastor Barry Bullman officiating. Aunt Ruby, we Love You. We know you are at Peace and with Al Again. We think of you often and your recipe for Meat Balls and Spaghetti Sauce is made often and shared with people we cherish. The time you lived in Virginia Beach was wonderful because we got to visit you.

My Aunt Ruby and her Sister Laura moved to Virginia Beach and I tried to visit them as often as I could. They were always a Joy. My wife Helen and I made Aunt Ruby’s Meat Balls and her spaghetti yesterday. We made extra to share with our extended family here in Hampton Va. We think of her often and know that she is at peace and with Al again. We Loved her.

We met Ruby when we moved to Wheeling West Virginia to start our first churching 1979. Her son Brian was one of the first people Todd met. When we started our first bible study at our house, Brian brought his mom and dad. They heart adopted us into their family. Her hubby, Al, played the trumpet in our worship band! RubyJo played a major roll in praying Jonathan into this world. She is the one who taught me how important and vital it is to get prayer and to pray. What a prayer warrior she was. She also was an amazing cook. Besides my mom and dad, Ruby was instrumental in teaching me how to cook. Many of you have tasted Ruby’s recipes she gave me and taught me how to make. The sweet part of her passing is she is with her beloved Jesus, who she served with all her heart. And she is also with Al, her sweet husband who she missed so much after his passing. The bitter part is, well, she is
no longer with us. She is missed already! I am so thankful for her and her love for Todd and I, the two crazy kids from California!

Ruby and Al always welcomed me into their home and hearts like family. They reached out to people of every age and background, and they shared the love of Christ with whomever God brought across their path.
Brian and Jo Lynn, your parents left you such a rich spiritual legacy, and the Lord Jesus has the most valuable inheritance waiting for all who believe in him and receive his saving grace by faith. May all who are grieving the passing of Ruby Jo experience the comfort and peace of God and celebrate her heavenly homecomng, along with all who have gone before her.
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
Love to you and yours, always and forever!

Aunt Ruby was an awesome little Lady!! She was genuine and honest, she loved with ALL of her heart her Lord and Savior, and her family! God gave her to us and for that I am truly grateful! When something happened to anyone she was the one we called to pray. We felt she had a direct line straight to God! She taught me so much about God, marriage, children, life, and to Bless those who are not kind. She was so beautiful and such a lady, never arrogant, or rude . She had awesome faith! She was the smartest woman I know, she may not have had a college education, but that woman was smart!! AMAZING woman!
I will miss her but I know she is at her Saviors feet, she’s with her King, and Uncle Al, Her parents, her brothers and sister, all the ones who went before. Although I am missing her dearly….I am so happy for her!! I will see her again soon!! Love you Aunt Ruby and save a place for me close to yours!

My Mom was a loving and caring person who always offered hospitality to family and those who visited her home. She encouraged many along their journey with good food and an encouraging word. My Dad and her often visited the sick and encouraged their faith many times praying “The Lord’s Prayer” with them. I trust that Mom is in a better place given her faithful life and trust in Christ for her salvation. She would pray that you find comfort in your time of grief.

My Mom was a loving and caring person who always welcomed family and guests into her home. She was well known for her good food and hospitality. She loved God and people. She and my father often visited the sick and encouraged their faith by praying “The Lord’s Prayer” with them. I hope you find grace in your time of sadness as God promises to comfort us. She is in a much better place now.
