Stanley K. Jasinski, 91, of Glen Dale, WV passed away March 7, 2018.

He was born February 25, 1927, in Wheeling, WV, the youngest son of John and Helen (Nowakowski) Jasinski.

He was a graduate of Wheeling High School and Tri-State Technical School. He was a US Navy Veteran who saw action and was wounded in the South Pacific during World War II.

Stanley was a Catholic and a member of St. Jude Church in Glen Dale, an Honorary Life Member 3rd degree Knights of Columbus Council 1907 of Moundsville, and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus assembly 1430 from Moundsville.

He first worked as an electrician at the Wheeling Steel plant in Benwood. In January 1955 he became a member of IBEW Local Union 141 in Wheeling. He worked on power plants, dams, hospitals, schools, and other heavy construction jobs throughout the Ohio Valley. He was Treasurer of the Union for 27 years. He also was an instructor of apprentice electricians for several years. As a Master Journeyman Electrician, he had to take early retirement due to a work injury during construction of the former Burger Plant in Ohio.

Stanley was a volunteer for 50 years on the Board of IBEW #141 Credit Union where he served for 47 years as President. He also served terms as the Financial Secretary of the Marshall, Wetzel, Tyler Central Labor Council. He was a volunteer organizer of telephone banks during state and national elections. Stanley received an award for 5000 volunteer hours from the WV AFL-CIO. He volunteered for over 24 years with the Federal VITA and TCE programs preparing tax returns for clients. He was a former member of the Wheeling Eagles, Moundsville Elks, and the former Glen Dale Lions Club, where he served a term as President. In 1992 he was recognized and awarded as a Distinguished West Virginian by Governor Gaston Caperton.

In his younger years, Stanley enjoyed bowling in several leagues and doing Western style Square Dance with the former Mound Squares. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Europe, going on Cruises, and taking yearly vacations at the Florida seashore and Disney World with his three grandchildren. He was, along with his son, a loyal fan of John Marshall High School football. His hobby for many years was tracking and recording weather conditions. He also enjoyed working Sudoku puzzles in ink up until the time of his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Bober and Evely n Tyburski, and two brothers, Emil Jasinski and Edward Jasinski. In 2011 he was preceded in death by his son, John Vincent Jasinski.

Stanley was a loving, kind, and gentle man who cherished his family of whom he was very proud. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Roseanne (Cianfarani) Jasinski of Glen Dale; his three grandchildren, Michelle (Robert) Ovies of Glen Dale, John (Terri) Jasinski,of Granville, Ohio and James (Samantha) Jasinski,of Glen Dale; his 4 great-grandchildren, Jay Jasinski and Stephanie Jasinski of Granville, Ohio, Alexa Jasinski of Glen Dale and Jessica Jasinski of Glen Dale. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Murray of Wheeling; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Ellen Lucas of Glen Dale; 2 special nieces, Phyllis Yankovich of Benwood and Sharon (Bernie) Twigg of Glen Dale; and a special nephew, Larry (Susan) Lucas of Glen Dale, and many other nieces and nephews; 4 special life-long friends, Tony and Floridae Provenzano and Lou and Mary Criminski, all of Warwood.

Friends will be received from 4-8 pm, Friday, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Saturday, March 10, 2018, at St. Jude Catholic Church, Glen Dale, with the Rev. Raju Antony as celebrant. Full military honors will be provided by the Moundsville Veteran’s Honor Guard. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, at the convenience of the family.

So sorry to hear of Stanley passing. I was one of his teachers for volunteering through IRS and would like to express how very helpful Stanley was to all who needed tax preparation done. Been many years ago but I remember how kind he was.
