Gene Fahey, Vice President & General Manger of Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory. Mr. Fahey graduated from West Liberty State College and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in WV, OH, PA, & NC. He has been with Altmeyer for 38 years.
Katie Border, MSW, is the Access and Care Director of Valley Hospice. She has been with the organization for over 11 years.
SESSION DESCRIPTION: The session will explore ethical issues faced at end of life from the perspective of hospice care and funeral decisions. At the end of the sessions, participants will be able to describe ethical issues involved in assisting families with end-of-life choices, as they relate to decisions about cremation, as they relate to decisions about hospice care, and apply knowledge gained to provide ethical practice that is sensitive to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
