Albert Lee Feenerty

Albert Lee Feenerty, 80 of Glen Dale, WV died October 11, 2018, in Wheeling Hospital Continuous Care Center surrounded by his loving family.  He was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Albert F. and Thelma R. (Breiding) Feenerty.  He graduated from Union High School where he was a stellar athlete and was a former member of the Merchant Marines.  Al worked at Consolidated Coal’s Ireland Mine until starting his own business “Al’s Valley Insulation Service” in which he owned and operated for over 50 years.  He was a 30 year member of the Boy Scouts of America where he served as a committee member of Pack 82 and the Assistant Scout Master of Troop 82 Glen Dale where he mentored dozens of Eagle Scout’s including his two sons and grandson. He along with Gerry Irish, Milan Vosvick, John Tarr and others were instrumental in the re-development of the Sandscrest Scout Reservation designing and building many of the structures still being used 30 years later.  Al also served on the District level and Executive Board of the Ohio River Valley Council earning him the prestigious Silver Beaver Award in 1992.  He was a kind generous man who always “told it like it was” and expected the best out of everyone.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, David Wayne Feenerty and a grandson, Justin James Schubert. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Debraha Burns Angel Feenerty; his daughters, Lorie Ann Schubert and Allicia (Jerry) Wade; his step-children, Allison (Mike) Carman, Aaron (Danielle) Angel, and Adam “Spanky” Angel; he was a very proud grandfather to 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; also surviving is a sister, Bonnie (Feenerty) Dudash; a brother, Don (Angela) Feenerty; a stepsister, Janie Murray and stepmother, Margaret Feenerty.  Friends received 4:00-8:00 pm Sunday and 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Monday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, at St. Jude Catholic Church, Glen Dale with Rev. John Ledford as celebrant.  Entombment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.  Memorial contributions may be sent in Memory of Al to Troop 82 Glen Dale, WV c/o Tom Cook 307 1st Street, Glen Dale, WV  26038.  Online condolences may expressed to the family atwww.altmeyer.com.
