Arch Lewis Burkey Jr., 60, of Moundsville, WV, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at his residence.

He was born April 12, 1955 in Glen Dale, WV, the son of the late Arch Lewis Burkey Sr. and his wife Beulah.

Arch was a retired coal miner for Consol, member of the Pleasant Valley Lions Club, member of the UMWA, loved to play with his band, Gang Up On The Hill and was an avid Nascar fan.

In addition to his parents, Arch was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Tyndall and several aunts and uncles.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Joyce (McLaughlin) Burkey of Moundsville; step-mother, Della Maxine Burkey of Moundsville; three children, Archie Lewis (Trish) Burkey of Cleveland, OH, Eric (Krissy) Burkey of Buckhannon, WV and Jaklyn (Bruce) Kotson of Moundsville; two sisters, Cathy (Dominic) Marcholli of Cleveland and Linda (Burl) Matthews of Colerain, OH; eleven grandchildren with and one on the way and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday, August 21, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, where funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 1:30 pm with rev. Gregory Blair officiating.

Interment will follow at Halcyon Hills Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Sherrard, WV.
