STANFORD, Betty Ruth, 96, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Belmont Manor.
She was born June 10, 1922 in Wheeling, daughter of the late Allan J. and Clara V. (Reister) Johnson. She was a member of the Lava Avenue Baptist Church in Wheeling and a volunteer Sunday School teacher. She also was a youth director for the Presbyterian & Alliance Church for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mason Stanford, one brother, Harry “Bud” Johnson, and one sister, Katherine Kuhl.
She is survived by three sons, Dale C. (Judy) Stanford of Wheeling, Todd M. (Grace) Stanford of St. Albans, W.Va., and Bradley P. (Lisa) Stanford of Wheeling; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 2-5 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, and on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am at the Lava Avenue Baptist Church, 5 Lava Avenue, Wheeling, with Pastor Shaun Borner officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
