Cecelia “CeCe” Podeszwa Ciripompa, passed away at Good Shepherd Nursing Home on August 20, 2018 surrounded by her three daughters, one from above and two by her side.
Since her husband’s death on July 13, 2014, Cecelia had been awaiting the reunion with Herman Ciripompa, whom she married 76 years ago on Valentine’s Day in 1942. She was also preceded in death by their first born daughter, Barabara Ann Tomczyk, on October 23, 2015 and joyfully joined her as well.
Cecelia was born to Joseph Walter and Teofila “Tillie” Gawrych Podeszwa on November 22, 1919 in Wheeling. She was the last survivor of eleven siblings and their spouses, including William “Bill” 1961, Franki 1928, Joseph “Joe” 1992, Ignatius “Iggie” 1987 (Anne), Stella 1987 (Guido), twins Edward ” Eddie” (1992) and Edmund “Hoody” 2001 (Mary), Rose Bucon 1989 (Bernie), Virginia Bucon 2018 (Chester) and Matthew “Matt” 1993 (Joan).
Cecelia was also preceded in death by her husband’s siblings and spouses, including Stella (Donald) Sharpe, Pauline (Bill) Pastoria, Mary Ciripompa and George (Eleanor) Ciripompa.
She was a retired employee of the former L.S.Good & Company, but will be best remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother as well as a “helping hand” whenever needed, always saying, “I wish I could do more.” She was an amazing cook and baker of both Italian and Polish recipes handed down from generation to generation. CeCe will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Cecelia is survived by her son in law, Joseph “Tom” Tomczyk and her two daughters; Marie (Ted) Chute and Kathleen (Jeffery) Young; eight grandchildren, Michelle Tomczyk Cottrell, Stephanie (George) DeRaymond, Christine Tomczyk, Amy (Tom) Karrasch, Jason (Nicole) Chute, Amanda (Kelly) Jerabek, Heather (Jason) Rine and Ryan (Jaime) Young; 18 great grandchildren; including, Tiffany (Josh) Prayear, Cory and Bradley Cottrell, Alyssa and Justin DeRaymond, Caitlin Tomczyk (Michael Garmin), Kaylee and Isiah Karrasch, Benjamin, Ella Marie and Avery Chute, Adrian and Noelle Jerabek, Isaac, Jacob and Levi Bo Rine and Leah Joe and Maggie Young and 3 great great grandchildren, Maddison, Sabrina and Hazel Prayear. Several nieces and nephews and their children complete the family including, Louise Pastoria Gray and Dennis Bucon, whose frequent visits made her happy.
In addition to her biological family, CeCe is survived by the devoted, loving and caring staff of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, where she resided for two years, as well as many of the residents, including special friends, Donna, Buddy and Gladys.
CeCe and her family will be eternally grateful to the entire staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home and Valley Hospice who made the last days of her beautiful journey amazingly special in so many ways.
Abiding by her wishes, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass to honor her life will be held on her birthday, November 22, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Chapel to be celebrated by the Chaplain, Reverend Paul Cabrita, who visited and prayed with her while she was a resident at the home.
