Dorothy J. “Dot” (Brinkmeier) McCloskey, of Wheeling, WV, passed away at her home Thursday, May 26, 2022.
She was born in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of the late Paul and Christine (Widmor) Brinkmeier. Dot was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Elm Grove Eagles and the Elm Grove Women’s Club where she served as president multiple times.
Dot truly believed in giving back to her community and helping those in need. For 25 years she volunteered at Catholic Charities where she was able to share her amazing cooking skills and was one of the founders for the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) in West Virginia for both the state and Wheeling Chapters.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter, Dianna Lynne Antill (2019) and her brother, Gene Brinkmeier.
Dottie is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jerome “Jerry” McCloskey; two sons, Doug McCloskey of Myrtle Beach, SC and Scott (Lisa) McCloskey of Wheeling; four grandchildren, Crystal (Justin) Bednar, Sarah McCloskey, Mark McCloskey and Amber McCloskey; two great-grandchildren, Haden and Henley Bednar and extended family.
Family and friends will be recieved Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 5-8 pm, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, June 2, at 11:30 am at St. Michael Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Chapel Mausoleum.

Always seeing Dot in the yard fussing over the flowers. Also when she was younger, I could hear the typewriter from the back porch, typing up something for NAMI or whatever she became interested in.
