Charles Edward Wasemann, “Ed”, 81, of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Ed was born October 2, 1936, in Wheeling, the only son of the late Arthur W. and Corelli May (Morris) Wasemann. He was a 1954 graduate of Wheeling High School; attended West Liberty State College; and was an avid West Liberty Hilltopper fan. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Frances Bellville; a brother-in-law, Tom George; and two nieces, Alexis Bouyoucas and Erica Faucett. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Donna (George) Wasemann; five children, Gail Lynn Jamrok of Texas, Carrie (Joe) Carey, Tricia (Robert) Bender, Eddie Wasemann, and Donnie (Mandy) Wasemann; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Becky (Ted) Bouyoucas; a sister-in-law, Kathleen George; fifteen grandchildren, Ashleigh, Amanda, Christian, Haleigh, Lindy, Caroline, Ryan, Travis, Cassie, Brooke, Nathan, Brooklyn, Shaelee, Hunter and Autumn; a great-granddaughter, Samara; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from Noon until 8 pm, Friday, February 23, 2018, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling. Friends are then invited to continue the celebration of Ed’s life, by joining the family on Saturday, at the Elm Grove Eagles, beginning at 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or online at www.TMCfunding.com. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyerfuneralhomes.com.

Donna and family, Greg and I were heartbroken to hear of Eddie’s passing. We were out of town and couldn’t make it to the viewing but know our thoughts and prayers are always with you. He was a great man and we will miss seeing him at Abbey’s. He always made us laugh. God bless you and we love you all.
