Elizabeth Ann “Bettyann” (Vensel) Stewart, 82, of Wheeling, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Continuous Care Center, Wheeling.
She was born in Wheeling on August 26, 1939, the daughter of Paul and Catherine (Houy) Vensel.
Bettyann was a retired school teacher for St. Michael School, Wheeling; a member of St. Michael Parish; the Women’s Auxiliary of Wheeling Hospital; Charter Guild of Wheeling Jesuit University; Wheeling Women’s Club; Magnolia Twig of EORH; Volunteer at Wheeling Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Stewart Sr. and a sister-in-law, Margaret Mabry.
Surviving are her two children, Laura Stewart (Steve Owoc) of Wheeling, and Thomas W. Stewart Jr. (Alma Kuhlemann) of Louisville, KY; a brother-in-law Ed (Karen) Stewart of Wheeling, and a sister-in-law Rosalie Bobo of McKInney TX; five nieces, a nephew, many cousins and many dear friends. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Continuous Care for their exemplary care of Bettyann during her three years there, as well as the many doctors and nurses who treated her with respect and dignity over the past six years.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 10 am until her Memorial Service at 12 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling with Rev.Carlos Melocoton Jr. officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Laura, since Betty Ann was a second mother to my brother, sister and I you and Tom have always been a sister to us. We are with you virtually and have some hugs coming to you when we see you.
