Eugene Magnone

Eugene Magnone, 90, of Benwood, departed this world on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Ohio Valley Medical Center.
Born January 31, 1927, in Belmonte Calabro, province Cozenza, Italy to Pietro and Antonia Pate Magnone, he emigrated to America at the age of 19.  Eugene and his wife, the former Armanda Muscedere, were married for 64 years.  He was a car inspector for the B&O /Chessie System Railroad out of the Benwood yard, having also served the B&O in Keyser, Parkersburg, and Fairmont, WV.   He was a member of the Garibaldi Lodge, the Sons of Italy, the Knights of Columbus, and a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church in McMechen.  A hard working man, he will be remembered for his tireless renovation of old homes, his large vegetable gardens, and his winemaking.
Eugene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in July 2016, brothers-in-law Mike and Pete Muscedere, sister-in-law Piacentina Muscedere, niece Linda Marzano, and his beloved granddaughter Lauren A. Eaton.  Surviving are his daughters Toni(Bob)Eaton of Martinsburg, WV;  Maria(Scott)Walls of Morgantown, WV; his sons Pete(Kate)Magnone of Charlotte, NC;  and Eugene(Lorella)Magnone of Bethlehem, WV with whom he currently resided; grandchildren Amanda(Andrew)Long of Winchester, VA; Michaela(Josh)Garrett of Morgantown, WV; Kenny Hall and Meghan Hall of Morgantown, WV; Adriana Magnone and Gina Magnone of Bethlehem, WV; Jia Magnone of Charlotte, NC; and four great grandchildren.  Also surviving are his sisters- in- law Antonette DeSantis and Giulia Muscedere, brother-in-law Teobaldo DeSantis all of Aliquippa, PA,   two special cousins; Mary Jane Bellanca and Angie Giannetta, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from Noon until 6 pmSunday, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Monday, January 22, 2018, at St. James Catholic Church, McMechen, with the Rev. Arul Anthony as celebrant.  Entombment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, Wheeling.
