SCENNA, Frank J., 78, of Wheeling, W.Va. passed away March 16, 2020 in the comfort of his home.
Frank was born September 10, 1941 in Warwood, W.Va. He was a graduate of Warwood High School where he was an accomplished three sport athlete. These experiences lead to a lifelong love of sports. As an adult he was a supporter of youth athletics and an avid golfer. Frank attended the West Virginia Barber Academy in Huntington, W.Va.; after completing his training, he practiced his craft for 60 years. He served generations of families in his shop, Frank’s Hair Quarters, located on Edgington Lane. Frank took great pride in his work, but he took even greater pride in his family. Frank’s calm, steady example and common sense advice such as “it’s nice to be nice” will continue to guide his loved ones in his absence.
He was preceded in death by his parents Francesco Scenna and Angela Navarra Scenna, his brother and mentor, Elio Scenna, his sister, Italia “Del” Strauss, and his brothers-in-law, Buck Strauss and Mario “Mio” Petrini.
He is survived by a large and loving family which includes his wife of 40 years, Sally Regele Scenna; his children, Rhonda Scenna (Joseph) and Rochelle St. Myers (Michael) of Wheeling, Randall Scenna (Janet) of Wellsburg, W.Va., Renae Hannon (Brian) of Raleigh, N.C., and Christina Scenna (Jason) of Pittsburgh, PA. His memory is cherished by his sisters, Minnie High (Roger) and Amy Petrini (Mario); and sister-in-law, Gina DelPizzo Scenna (Elio). He will also be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Chelsee, Chance, Katie, Aaliyah, Tailynn, Scott, and Sofia; as well as by his two great grandchildren, Eden and Shiloh.
At the request of his family and in the interest of the community’s continued wellbeing and safety, private services officiated by Rev. Martin Smay will be held later this week. Entombment in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Wheeling is to follow.
A Mass of Christian Burial and a celebration of Frank’s life will occur at a later date which has yet to be determined.
At this time, the family asks that support be expressed through memorial contributions and written correspondence.
