George “John” Wakim, 81, of Wheeling, died Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
He was born June 7, 1938 in Wheeling, a son of the late George J. and Edna Nagem Wakim.
John was the retired owner of the Knotty Pines Bar, was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel- Beach Bottom Plant, was a Marine veteran, and Catholic by faith.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by three brothers; Thomas, Milo, and Joseph “Buck” Wakim, and two sisters; Margaret and Marie Wakim.
John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Erma Bene Wakim, three sisters; Blanche Wakim of Wheeling, Angela Donelly of Wheeling, Anna DeAguiar of Canton, MI, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John’s wishes were to have no visitation or services.

Erma, John was always remembered as a warm, good friend of ours. You and he were an important part of the Wheeling Feeling. We will miss him. Our condolences.

John was one of my favorite customers at the Marathon station. He always had a knid word, offered refreshments to anyone working, and was quick with a smile. I was saddened to hear of his passing. My heart and prayers are with Erma and family.
