James Burke Campbell, 81, of Moundsville, WV. passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 21, 1938, in Glen Dale, WV, son of the late Dr. James J. and Agnes (Burke) Campbell.
James was a retired Claims Representative for State Farm Insurance, a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, a Volunteer at St.Vincent DePaul Church, Wheeling, and a member of the Knights of Columbus of Moundsville. James loved hunting, taking care of his lawn, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Francis Campbell, and two sons-in-law, David Fisher and Donald Goddard.
James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol (Darrah) Campbell of Moundsville; three children, Steven C. (Diane) Campbell of Lakeland, FL, Carole Ann Fisher of Glen Dale and Michelle Goddard of Glen Dale; sister, Patricia O’Neil of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Steven (Samantha) Campbell II of Lakeland, Dayna Campbell of Lakeland, Madison Fisher of Glen Dale, Megan Goddard (Cody ) Zuk of Wheeling, WV, Jennifer Goddard and fiance, Homer Hess of Fairmont, WV and Kaitlin Goddard and fiance Kyle Ransom of Morgantown, WV.and his great-grandchildren, Ryan and Savannah Campbell of Lakeland, Emerie Hess of Fairmont and Jett Zuk of Wheeling.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 10 am until time of the Rosary Service at 11:15 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapels, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at St. Francis Xavier Church. With Rev. That Son serving as Celebrant. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
The family wanted a special thank you to be offered to Valley Hospice and Visiting Angels for being there in the family’s time of need.
