James Richard “Jim” Jones, 86, of Moundsville, WV, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

He was born June 22, 1934, a son of the late Roy E. and Ruth A. (Rider) Jones. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Middle Grave Creek Church of God, where he was associate pastor for numerous years. He retired as a supervisor from Ormet Corporation. Jim loved his grandchildren, hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Jones.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, of 65 years, Verda L. (Crowe) Jones; three children, Brad (Becky) of Moundsville, Katherine “Sissy” (Michael) Bukovich of Boca Raton, FL and Sam (Dena) Jones of Gering, NE; one sister, Sandra Yoho of Moundsville; six grandchildren, Jeremiah Jones, Justin Jones, Amy Bukovich, Sean (Leigh) Bukovich, Abby Bukovich and Ryan Bukovich; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte James Bukovich and several special cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 3-8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., where funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm with Pastor Dave Sessums. Interment will take place at Beelers Station Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the administration, staff and employees of Good Shepherd Nursing Home for all of their care and professionalism to both Jim and family, especially 3 South.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Middle Grave Creek Church of God or to Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

My dearest condolences to Verda and his family! He was the sweetest many I could have taken care of at good shepherd. I remember when I found out I was pregnant with my son he was the one of the first person to know. And he always made sure to tell me I’m going to be a great mom.
