Jana Kay (Cunningham) Parry, of Charleston, WV, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 13, 2020, after her second battle with Endometrial Cancer.

Jana was born November 8, 1952, in Glen Dale, WV, a daughter of the late Warren and Gladys (Harris) Cunningham.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Parry Sr., with whom she truly loved and was married to for 47 years, her two sister’s

Beth Cunningham and Carla Masters, and brother, James Cunningham.  Jana is survived by her two children, Amy Hill and her husband, Dr. Randall Hill of Charleston, WV, her son, Dr. Aaron Parry II and his wife, Merideth Parry of Charleston, SC, grandchildren, Preston Hill, Zoe Parry and Aaron “Rock” Parry III, her beloved sister and best friend,  Jean Erazmus, husband John Erazmus, three brothers, Charles Cunningham, and wife Jackie Cunningham, Mark Cunningham, and wife Joan Cunningham, and Paul Cunningham.

A beloved mom, grandmother, sister and friend, who was alternately known as “Jana Kay, Mama, Granny, Big Memaw and Big Mama.

Jana’s children and grandchildren were her legacy. She lived for them and loved to be with them and show them off.  She took pride in raising her two children in a small farming community and taught them right from wrong and how to be good contributors to their community.  She raised the family in church and always stressed the importance of having a relationship with God. This was one constant in her life that she cherished up to her final day on this Earth.

Jana managed the family Gas and Oil Well business out of her home while raising her children.  In her free time, she loved to garden and sew. She was an extremely talented seamstress, designing everything from wedding dresses to Halloween costumes.  She did it all.

Jana’s sharp sense of humor was one of her best qualities.  She made every conversation entertaining for anyone around. She could light up a room with laughter, leaving you wanting more jokes and laughs.  Her children’s friends would always want to sit and hang out with “Big Momma” because she made everyone feel good with her interpretation of life or the current situation.

Ultimately, her grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved nothing more than spending time doing crafts, making cookies, playing games, and decorating for holidays.  Every birthday and holiday was a big event. Her house was always fully decorated for every holiday, even ones that most don’t take the time to decorate for.  She loved making big family dinners for everyone’s enjoyment and gathering with family and friends. We are such a lucky family to have had her in our lives for so many years. Heaven is now a better place.
