Jeanne Margaret Flading, 96, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling.
Jeanne was born December 15, 1923, in Wheeling, daughter of the late Harry C. and Mary K. (Kaiser) Flading. She was a 1941 graduate of the former St. Joseph Academy, Wheeling; and a retired switchboard operator for Wheeling Hospital and The Intelligencer/ Wheeling News-Register. She was also a member of St. Michael Parish and the Wheeling Hospital Auxiliary.
Jeanne is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Yochum, of Pittsburgh, PA; a nephew, Mark (Kathleen) Yochum; two nieces, Susan Yochum SC, and Cynthia (John) Meegan; and three great nieces, Sara M. (Richard) Bondi, Patricia A. Meegan and Molly R. Yochum.
Friends will be received from 3-5 pm, Thursday, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 4:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 pm, Friday, February 14, 2020, at St. Michael Church, with Rev. Martin Smay as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

I am so sorry that I was not able to attend the visitation or funeral, as I was out of town at the time. I grew up next door to Jeanne’s parents. She was a wonderful daughter and good friend to my parents. What a classy lady. My brothers and sisters have very fond memories of Jeanne, her parents, her sister and brother-in-law.
You are at peace dear friend. We had many a laugh during our friendship that I will always hold close to my heart. Till we meet again!❤

Getting to know Mrs. Flading was truly one of the highlights of my life. She was a very kind, insightful and caring person who I looked at as an example to follow. She had amazing independence despite her medical issues. It was my pleasure to bring her Communion every Monday. I considered her my adopted grandmother You will be missed!!
