Joan E. Bungard, 78, of Wheeling, formerly of Paden City, WV, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born July 18, 1937 in Washington County, PA, a daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret Elliott Messenger.
Joan was retired owner-operator of the Silk and Satin Bridal Boutique, had worked for Kardex Systems, and Scott Lumber, was a seamstress and a member of the Paden City Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Bungard in 2015, and a sister Mary Ann Keller.
Surviving are her four children; Debra Darnold of Hannibal, OH, Wilma Beaver and her husband, Richard of Wheeling, Sandra Mason and her husband, Samuel of Crewe, VA, Samuel Bungard and his wife, Patricia of Marietta, OH, a sister; Helen Reams and her husband, Quinton of Homer City, PA, a brother; James Messenger and his wife, Diane of Blairsville, PA and 7 grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 10:00am until time of services at 11:00am at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St. Wheeling, being officiated by her son, Samuel Bungard.
Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery, Washington, PA.
