John Joseph Chiazza, “Uncle John”, 86, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling.
John was born December 28, 1931 in Wheeling, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Amato) Chiazza. John was retired from TCI Cable Co.; a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wheeling; and a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran. John was the first member of his family to obtain a college degree, in 1960. He did graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh and St. Louis University.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Harris, in 1984. He is survived by his sister, Betty Petri of Wheeling; brother-in-law, Jim (Ginger) Harris of St. Clairsville, OH; nieces and nephews, Mary Jo (Dr. Richard) Terry of Wheeling, J.B. (Linda) Harris of Wheeling, Dr. Benita Petri and her husband, Dr. Stephen Pickstone of Columbus, OH, Mary Beth (Brad) Howard of Glen Dale, WV, Amy Jo (Derek) Amend of Clearview, WV, and Joseph (Angela) Harris of Columbus, OH; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 4-8 pm, Tuesday, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Msgr. Paul Hudock as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, with full military honors provided by the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard.

John Chiazza, will be missed greatly. We shared an office at OSU for 4 years. He was a wonderful person everybody had love for John. We lost a good one.
