John Richard Grob

December 3, 1936 - December 15, 2018

John Richard Grob, 82, of Wheeling, WV, passed away December 15, 2018 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born December 3, 1936, a son of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Jualin) Grob. John was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a US Navy veteran. For over 28 years he worked as a Chef at Oglebay. He was an avid football fan and loved watching the Steelers and Mountaineers play. John enjoyed playing bingo and greyhound racing.
John is survived by his loving wife, of 43 years, Marlene (Mistak) Grob; his grandson, Alex Calissie, who he saw as a son to him his entire life; one daughter, Sherri (Ken Seeholzer) Calissie; four grandchildren, Shaynee Calissie, Gage Seeholzer, Frankilynn Seeholzer and Angel Calissie and one great-grandson, Braxton Seeholzer.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, with a vigil service at 7:30 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, December 20, at 11 am at St. Michael Catholic Church with Fr. Smay officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
