John Thomas Callahan, Jr., 77, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Wheeling Hospital, surrounded by many of his children.
He was born in Glen Dale, WV on November 10, 1943, to the late John Thomas and Ann (Kark) Callahan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Rothermund.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janet (Ritz) Callahan, and his twelve children: Regina (Ted) Rinehimer, John (Gail), Michael, Sean (Hayley), Douglas (Teri), Kathleen (Brad) Fox, Timothy (Julianna), Ted, McKenna (Andrew) Moretz, Daniel, Samuel, and Celia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a devoted Catholic, family man, cattle farmer, sports and music lover, and Mr. Fix-It. He was a retired employee of PPG industries in New Martinsville, WV. John was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and always had a rosary in his hands.
Family and friends will be received at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Wheeling, WV, on Friday, October 15 from 2-4 and 6-8pm, with a vigil service at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Peace on Saturday, October 16 at 9am with the Rev. Fr. Joseph M. Augustine as celebrant.
Interment to follow at Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens.
