Joseph Michael Stipetich, 92, of Benwood, WV, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 in Peterson Rehabilitation Center, Wheeling, WV.

He was born November 2, 1924 in Boggs Run, WV a son of the late Joseph M Stipetich.and Rose (Bosnic) Stipetich Predavec.

Joseph was a 1943 Graduate of Union High School, retired employee of Olin Chemical Company, US Navy Veteran serving in WWII aboard submarines USS Jallao and USS Chub, member of St. John Catholic Church, Benwood, member of Blake Brothers Post #46 American Legion, Benwood and member of the former Croatian Cultural Club, Benwood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Frank Predavec, brother John (Regina) Stipetich, sister, Katherine Stipetich and grandson, Griffin Stipetich.

Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Elizabeth “Sis” (Little) Stipetich of Benwood; four sons, Joseph (Mary Jo) Stipetich of Wheeling, WV, Frank (Susan) Stipetich of Glen Dale, WV, Ronnie (Robin) Stipetich of Benwood and John (Peg) Stipetich of Glen Dale; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Glen) Hicks, Jonathan (Anna) Stipetich, Brandon Stipetich, Abby (Michael) Bunch, Shannon Stipetich, Sarah Stipetich, Ali (Ryan) Novick and Collin Joseph Stipetich; six great grandchildren, Indigo and Desmond Hicks, Griffin, Ireland and Lennox Bunch and Lincoln Joseph Novick.

Friends will be received on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood -McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street McMechen WV from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Catholic Church, McMechen Monday July 10, 2017 at 10am with Msgr Kevin Quirk serving as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling with military graveside services.
