Larry Wayne Phillips, 64, of Moundsville, WV, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
He was born in Dennison, OH, March 15, 1957, a son of Peggy Ann (Long) Phillips and the late Lawrence Wayne Phillips. After 40 years of dedicated work with AEP – Kammer/Mitchell Power Plant, Larry retired in 2020. Larry was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shadyside, Ohio. He was also a member of the Moundsville Rifle and Pistol Club, the Marshall County Hunting and Fishing Club, an adult leader for Boy Scout Troop #78 and a lifetime member of the NRA. Larry enjoyed hunting, was an avid outdoorsman, an amazing fisherman and a questionable golfer.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a nephew, Kyle Phillips.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Paula Rae (Okulanis) Phillips of Moundsville; his mother, Peggy Ann Phillips; two sons, Joshua P. Phillips of McMechen, WV and Jesse M. Phillips of Moundsville; three siblings, Joan Kennedy of Fredrickstown, PA, Don (Susan) Phillips of Georgetown, OH and Matt (Casey) Phillips of Stafford, PA; several nieces and nephews, one great-niece, one great-nephew and his beloved corgi, Dusty.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, June 14, at 12 pm, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 350 East 40th Street, Shadyside, OH. Cremation to follow. Private interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery at a date and time to be determined.
