Laurence Gerard "Larry" Schroeder

May 4, 1936 - June 11, 2020

Laurence Gerard “Larry” Schroeder, 84, of Sun City Center, FL, formerly of Wheeling, WV, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 11, 2020 at South Bay Hospital.

He was born May 4, 1936, the son of the late Gerard and Mary (Bogers) Schroeder. Larry was a 1954 graduate of Central Catholic High School, a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from Rockwell Automation and was an avid dancer. Larry enjoyed all kinds of sporting activities and was a huge Cleveland Indians and Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan.

Larry loved where he lived in Sun City Center and he always enjoyed coming home to visit family and friends and was looking forward to travelling soon.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an aunt, Angela Stauver.

Larry is survived by his sister, Marilyn (Gerald) Burkle of Wheeling; one nephew, David (Judy) Burkle of Evans, GA; one great-niece, Laura and one great-nephew, Jack; three sisters-in-law, Rosalie (Bud) Filben, Pat Burkle and Mary Margaret Danahey; aunt, Florence Kline; numerous cousins and many close friends, including, Sister Rosalie Bucci, Hilda Lindner, Becky Auld and Shirley Tryon.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, with a vigil service at 3:30 pm, at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 1400 Eoff St. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, June 19, at 10 am at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with Fr. Martin Smay officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
