Marion Virginia (Leister) Freeman, 91, of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 16, 2020, with her family present. Marion loved her family and was blessed to have so many caring friends.
She was born October 6, 1928, in Greensburg, PA, the daughter of the late William and Beatrice (Ross) Leister. She was retired from the Wheeling Park Commission; worked for the former St. Joseph Academy, Wheeling; and was a member of St. Michael Parish.
In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William “Coach” Freeman, in 2012; and a brother, William Leister. She is survived by her three sons, Jeffery (Becky) Freeman of Sarasota, FL, Chris (Cindy) Freeman of Wheeling and Eric (Joandra) Freeman of Silverthorne, CO; and four grandchildren, Adrienne (Takumi) Sato of Salem, VA, Emily (Steve) Waters and Ellen Freeman of Wheeling and Brianna (Dennie) Thomas of Fairmont, WV; and a great grandson, Parker Sato.
There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm, Friday, August 21, 2020, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Cyprian C. Osuegbu as celebrant. A memorial gathering will then be held from 3-6 pm at the Sonneborn Shelter at Wheeling Park, and all are welcomed to attend.
Marion will be privately entombed in the Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Oglebay Foundation, 255 Mansion Drive, Wheeling, WV 26003 (click here), or Catholic Charities West Virginia, 2000 Main Street, Wheeling, WV 26003 (click here).

Dear Chris, Cindy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Marion was a dear friend, especially to my late sister. Marion was the one who brought me into the Thursday bridge club and I did so enjoy being with her and the other members.
