Martha Marie Wojcik

Martha Marie Klenowski Wojcik, 82, of Wheeling, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at Wheeling Hospital.

Martha was born August 3, 1938 in Wheeling, the daughter of late John and Sophie (Socha) Klenowski. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy and a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, the Christian Mothers and the Island Community Association. She was a life-long resident of her beloved Wheeling Island. Martha was a gifted dancer and an ardent supporter of the arts. She was loved following her family’s activities and sporting events and looked forward to the March Madness each year, switching channels to catch every game.

Martha was a devoted wife, mother and Catholic. She imparted a strong work ethic, a devotion to service of others and an unwavering faith to her children and grandchildren. She modeled a life of humility and was often found in her kitchen preparing meals for her family.

Martha is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Frederick and brother John Klenowski.

She is survived by three children, Denise (Mark) Basich of Wheeling, Doug (Lael) Wojcik of East Lansing, Michigan and Dave (Heather) Wojcik of Wheeling; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Jason) Trollinger, Jordan (Danielle) Basich, Zachary (Cait) Basich, Kylor Basich, Jake Wojcik, Paxson Wojcik and Denham Wojcik; five great-grandchildren, Betsy, Natalie and Luke Trollinger and Emma and Brayden Basich; two brothers, Paul (Janice) Klenowski and Denny (Barb) Klenowski; her dear sister-in-law, Marie Klenowski and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 4-7 pm, at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 1400 Eoff St. with a vigil service at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, February 11, 10 am at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
