Mary Mardell Rogerson

Mary Mardell Rogerson, 95, of Hilliard, Ohio (formerly of Moundsville, W.Va.) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 7, 2017.
She was born on June 23, 1922, in Moundsville, the daughter of the late Carl H. and Mary Mae Ferrell Shook.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Anne Miller (John F.), of Hilliard, Oh (formerly of Sherrard, W.Va.); two sisters, Evelyn Virginia Shook of Moundsville, WV and Ruth Ann (Robert) Tiefel of Tallahassee, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Rogerson, Tina (Mike) Tordella, James (Chrisi) Rogerson, Kimberly Miller, and John (Shawna) Miller; fourteen great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Carl Raymond Shook, Ivan Lee Shook, and Donald Ealy Shook, and her son, Barry Kent Rogerson of Clarksburg, WV.
She was a 1941 graduate of Sherrard High School.
Mary was an active member of Limestone Presbyterian Church for 82 years. She was a Sunday school teacher with young teens, adults, and the Volunteer Class. She also participated in the Bible School for many years.
She was a member of the Limestone Ladies Aid Quilting group. Her passion was quilting and she made 107 quilts in her lifetime, the last being at the age of 92. Her quilts are located in Virginia, Big Sky, Montana, Florida, Ohio, and WV.
After high school, she was employed for 15 years as a bookkeeper with Gordon Auto Parts in Moundsville, WV.
She was also employed with the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley for 2 years.
She spent four years in Tallassee, FL and attended Lafayette Presbyterian Church. She was employed with the State of Florida Retail Sales Tax Division.
Mary was a member of the Marshall County Republicans Club and also the Women’s Republican Club.
During her lifetime she received much joy with her family and friends, different crafts and hobbies, reading, and playing cards with many of her friends.
Friends will be received on Saturday, December 9, 2017, from 1 pm until time of Funeral Service at 3 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, with Rev. Larry Kline officiating. Interment will follow in Limestone Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Limestone Presbyterian Church or Limestone Ladies Aid, at 5704 Waynesburg Pike Road, Moundsville, WV 26041 or through www.tmcfunding.com.
