Marylee “Gert” (Schultz) Smith, 83, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020, in Weirton Geriatric Center, Weirton, WV.
She was born August 20, 1937, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Carl Frederick and Nellie (Moran) Schultz. She retired from Altenheim Home for the Elderly; was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Wheeling; and was an avid sports fan and a huge fan of Lebron James. She especially enjoyed watching her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, music and dancing, and playing cards and having lunch with friends weekly.
She is survived by her six children, Scott Smith of Wheeling, Robin (Harvey) Lucas of Columbus, OH, Shell Smith of Wheeling, Stacey Popicg of Annapolis, MD; Randi K. Smith (Derrick Wright) of Alexandria, VA and Stefie Smith of Wheeling; a sister, Norma Jean Toland of Wheeling; a brother, Charles (Claudia) Schultz of Wheeling; a sister-in-law, Virginia Schultz; a cousin, Elsie “Wink” Hodor of Martins Ferry, OH; nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Brandon, Eli, Adalee, Alexa, Emil, Sierra, Alyssa and Trenton; four great-grandchildren, Nolan, Viera, Parsons and Dante; and several nieces and nephews.
Marylee’s children would like to give special thanks to the administration, nurses and staff at Weirton Geriatric Center. The loving kindness and amazing care their mother received at Weirton Geriatric will never be forgotten.
