THOMAS, Mildred M., 87, of Bridgeport, Ohio, died Sunday, March 10, 2019 in Wheeling Hospital.

She was born September 22, 1931, a daughter of the late Seedie Burress and Beatrice Reed Burress Kelly. She was a member of the American Legion Post 89 and a former Elks member.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert L. Thompson, and one brother, Robert “Bobby Dale” Burress.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Thomas; nine children, Carol Burress of Columbus, Ohio, David (Robin) Thompson of Valdosta, Ga., Faye Thompson of Columbus, Elvin Thompson of Belliare, Ohio, Greg Thompson of Bridgeport, Ohio, Sheila (Curtis) McGhee of Bridgeport, Kevin Thompson of Wheeling, Robert “Bobby” Thompson of Bridgeport, and Shyria (Kevin Jr.) Thompson-Works of Wheeling; one brother, William “Bill” (Lillie) Burress of Columbus; nine step brothers and sisters, James Burress of N.Y., Frances Burress of Mich., Gary Burress of Columbus, Nathaniel Burress of Wheeling, Debbie Davis of Columbus, Mildred Burress of Mich., Eugene “Beanie” Burress of Columbus, Patricia Burress of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Joseph Top of Martins Ferry; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, although she claimed to have had 187 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren total.

Friends will be received on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 11 am until time of service at 1 pm at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 105 12th St, Wheeling, with Rev. James Agnew III officiating.
