He was also a former youth baseball and basketball coach; and a member of the Garibaldi Lodge, Benwood, where he enjoyed playing bocce ball. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Horan; and a brother, William Horan.

Pat is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol A. (Smith) Horan; two children, Michael (Silvia) Horan of McMechen and Lori (Michael) Smith of Benwood; a sister, Katherine (James) Bosworth of McMechen; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Justin, Jared, Michael and Marisa Horan, and Joshua and Jacob Smith; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Heidi.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Garden Mausoleum, Wheeling.

Nothing but wonderful memories of Pat. Such a kind, cheerful guy! I remember, as a child he always had his lunch at my parent’s store. He would stand by the produce counter, shoot the breeze with my Dad, and have his nutritious lunch that consisted of a bottle of 7Up and a Twinkie. As an adult, I would see him working at Altmeyers and he was still the same kind man who always remembered me. RIP Pat, heaven has gained a wonderful angel. My sincere condolences to his family.

Went to school at St. James together and on to Central. I Didn’t see him for years till my sis passed away and was at Altmeyer and he was working there. Always like “Tok”, that’s what we called him. He will be missed, he always had good to say for everyone. God Bless Him and may he rest in Peace. Ted Lander

Mr. Horan is a big part of my childhood. When it was my birthday I would be waiting on the porch for him to arrive with the mail and he would say I see someone’s having a birthday today. He was such a kind person who remembered me years later when I would visit Altmeyer’s. His passing is a loss not just to his family but also to everyone who knew him as the “mailman”. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Sympathies to family and friends. Saw Mr. Horan almost everyday, delivering our mail with a smile. Always would stop and chat with my Dad, Vic. A very nice man. He was a household name at the Gongola’s. Vicky Gongola Nelson Ocala FL
