Paul “Blaine” Wayt, 89, of Moundsville, WV, died Monday, July 8, 2019, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 23, 1929, in Moundsville, a son of the late Paul H. and Sadie Gray Wayt.
Blaine was retired from the former Fostoria Glass Co., after 38 years of service and also worked for the Marshall County School System for 10 years, and was a member of the First Christian Church, Moundsville.
When Blaine was working for Fostoria Glass, he was commonly called Doolittle by all his co-workers. He was famous for making homemade ice cream for his family and friends to share and enjoyed many trips with his family to the beach. He made it a point to attend all his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s athletic and academic endeavors. To everyone, he was an all round great guy!
In addition to his parents, Blaine was preceded in death by his loving wife Norma “LaVerne” Simmons Wayt in 2016, daughter in law, Joni Wayt, two brothers; Robert and Jack Wayt, and a grandson, Timothy J, Paul, Sr.
Blaine is survived by his 4 children; Rodney A. Wayt of Absecon, NJ, Vicki S. (Victor) Paul of Wheeling, Amy J. (Gregory) Jewell of St. Clairsville, OH, Beth A. (Richard) Healy of Moundsville, a brother; Gary L. (Charlotte) Wayt of Moundsville, 2 sisters; JoAnn Willis and Linda Davis, both of Moundsville, along with ten grandchildren; Matthew (Jill) Paul, Michael (Jen) Paul, Katie Reese (Jason Lightner), Nicholas (Whitney) Healy, Shane (Lori) Healy, Jessica (Colin) Heikes, Cody Wayt, Megan Jewell, Stephen (Tamera) Jewell and granddaughter in law, Jessica Paul, nine great-grandchildren; Kalyn and Jaxson Reese, Owen, Kelsie, TJ and Desiree Paul, Hudson and Harper Healy and Kennedy Jewell, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, July 11, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8pm, and also from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am, on Friday, July 12, 2019 with Rev. Wesley Howsare officiating at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes and Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV.
Interment will follow in the Limestone Presbyterian Cemetery.
