Paul Richard "Dick" Lemery

Paul Richard “Dick” Lemery, 73, of Wheeling WV passed away on October 7, 2018.
Dick was born on August 1, 1945 in Wheeling. He was the son of the late Edward F. Lemery and the late Dorothy (Elig) Lemery. He spent his youth on Wheeling Island.
He served his country proudly in the US Marine Corps during Viet Nam. He was a member of Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Artillery which was among the initial wave to land in Viet Nam in March 1965. He was a former Commander of the American Legion Post 1 in Wheeling.
Dick met his wife Frances M. Falduto in 1971 and were married February 17, 1973; they recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. They are members of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.

After the Marine Corps, Dick joined the Wheeling Fire Department and retired after 20 years of service as one of Wheeling’s first Paramedics/EMTs. As a result of his training, he continued his studies in Nursing at WV Northern Community College. Upon receipt of his nursing license, he worked at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh and then as an Operating Room nurse at Wheeling Hospital. After those years he drove for Coach Bus Line.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Paula Frances Lemery.

Surviving are his wife Frances, two daughters, Denise Taylor of Weirton, Amanda Skvarka and her husband Bobby, of Benwood, one granddaughter, Madison Taylor of Weirton, one grandson, Mason Skvarka of Benwood and his sister, Judith A Sanders of Wheeling.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street in Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 7:00pm with Rev. Arul Anthony, followed by military honors from the Moundsville Honor Guard. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
