KIRKER, Pauline Mary, 96, of McMechen, WV died on Friday, July 10, 2020 in Liza’s Place, Wheeling.

She was born May 17, 1924 in Bentleyville, PA and was raised in Triadelphia, WV where she attended Triadelphia High School.

Pauline was married to James D. Kirker in 1943 until his passing in 1995.

She was a homemaker and was very active in the PTA and was awarded a lifetime membership, worked the concession stand for Union High School football games, registered voters, poll checker, and worked as the manager of her polling precinct.  She was chairperson of many church bazaars, cooked and prepared many bereavement dinners, soup & pie sales, and a member of the Altrusa Church Circle for over 50 years.

Pauline was an avid Bingo player who took the game seriously, a “professional” Greeting Card sender for birthdays, get well, sympathy, etc.  She sent over 25,000 cards to friends and family and helped to support the U.S. Post Office!

Pauline loved her family and loved family gatherings, especially during the holidays.  In fact, she prepared Christmas dinner for 20+ people at the age of 95.

She loved to cook and bake.  She would bake over 100 dozen Christmas cookies each year to give to family and friends.  She loved to play cards and do crossword puzzles.

Pauline had many friends that she called daily to chat with and see how they were doing.  Her friends loved her straight forward, no nonsense approach of giving advice, but always done out of concern for their well-being.

Pauline will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt Puskarich and Kate (Rendulic) Puskarich Maranich; Husband, James D. Kirker, Sr.; 2 sons, James D. Kirker, Jr. and Leonard Kirker; 3 brothers, John Puskavich, Leonard (Lindy) Puskarich, Paul Puskarich (infant); 2 sisters, Rose Marie Zajac and Patricia Mezlak.; and infant grandson, James D. Kirker III.

Surviving are 2 sons, Gary Kirker and David (Judy) Kirker; 2 daughters, Linda (Walter) Amos and Deborah (John) Sedoski; 10 grandchildren, Heather Dunn, Wendy Hodorowski, Jason Kirker, Jodie Price, Kelly Kiziminski, Corrine Wheeler, Jacqueline Kirker, Paula Buck, John Sedoski, Jr. and Ryan Kirker; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday, July 12, 2020 from 4-8 pm and on Monday, July 13, 2020 from 11 am until time of service at 1 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, with Rev. Rodney Hubbs officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
