Peter Joseph “Pete” Jafrate, 97, formerly of Benwood, WV, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in Washington, PA.

He was born October 29, 1920, a son of the late Gaetano and Dominica (Boretta) Jafrate. Pete was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church and a WWII, US Army Veteran. Pete never met a person he couldn’t talk to, was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need and made sure to enjoy life to the fullest with a positive and outgoing attitude. He enjoyed playing the harmonica and dancing, but above everything, he cherished his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosalind Irene Jafrate; one sister, Mildred Martini and two brothers, Alfonse and Albert Jafrate.

Pete is survived by his two children, Linda (David) Harton and Richard (Silvia) Jafrate; one sister, Jennie Magestro; one brother, Angelo Jafrate; three grandchildren, Beth Harton, David (Kristen) Harton and Beatriz Jafrate; several nieces and nephews and extended family from all over the world.

Family and friends will be received Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 1-7 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., where services will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 at 1 pm with Fr. Arul Anthony officiating. Interment will take place at Parkview Memorial Gardens.
