Rae Suzette Baker, 83, of Wheeling, formerly of Moundsville, WV, died Thursday, June 28, 2018.
She was born August 26, 1934, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Lenore Blake Wilson.
Rae was a descendent of three prominent Marshall County pioneer families including the Burch, Rine and Shepherd families. She was a member of the Marshall County Historical Society, WAGS (Wheeling Area Genealogical Society), DAR, Marshall County Swim Team Secondary School Swim Judge and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Rae was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Baker in 2008, and her sister, Gaye Decker.
She is survived by her sons; R. Michael Baker of Wheeling, John D. Baker and Mark S. Baker and his wife Karen, all of Moundsville, Christopher P. Baker of Austin, TX, her brother; John T. Wilson, Sr. and his wife Louise of Washington Lands, and a grandson; Alex S. Baker of Philadelphia, PA.
Friends will be received on Sunday, July 1, 2018, from 12:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes and Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 2, 2018, at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. That Son Ngoc Nguyen as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Moundsville.
