Rita Christina (Klug) Kubancik, 86, of Benwood, passed away May 12, 2022 at home “her favorite place on earth”.
She was born January 1, 1936 in Wheeling, WV., the daughter of the late Herman and Rita (Bleifus) Klug.
Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother which she took great pride in. She loved spending time with her grandkids, who she considered to be her most precious gifts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Stanley “Stush” Kubancik; three sisters Mary and Alyce Klug and Kathryn (Klug) Mosa; a brother Joseph Klug.
Survivors include her son Stanley (Tabatha) Kubancik; her daughter Suzanne (John Erazmus) Kubancik and her estranged daughter Christina; her grandchildren Stanley (Britni Minor) Kubancik, Sarita (Heath) Fox and Scott (Cheyanne Reinbeau) Kubancik, Claire and Victor McElwee; her great-grandchildren Bo Kubancik, Aurora Fox and Baby Fox (coming in November 2022); a special niece Patty Eiler; Siblings Bill Klug, Tom (Kaye) Klug and Mike (Sherry) Klug; a sister-in-law Rose Warble; numerous nieces and nephews.
Rita’s family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Wilson and staff for always providing such wonderful care and Valley Hospice for making her last days as comfortable as possible.
Friends will be received on Monday May 16, 2022 from 2 -7pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 11 am at St. John Catholic Church, Benwood with Rev. Doney Chacko as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions can be made to St John Catholic Church or Valley Hospice.

My mother was Goldie Ellen Klug Kluskey she spoke of Rita often she talked of fun times at Wheeling Central. One of my moms favorite cousins. Sorry to hear of her passing. But, sure ther will be fun times in heaven.
