Rita M. (Velas) Buzzard Wellman, 77, of Glen Dale, WV, passed away Monday, January 20, 2020, at her home.
Rita was born August 2, 1942, in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of George and Frances (Helminski) Velas. She was retired from the office of Dr. David Nally, Glen Dale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Rodney” Wellman, in 2019; and three brothers, Wayne, Gary and Chris Velas.
Rita is survived by her two children, Charles Edward (Cherie) Buzzard of Moundsville, Jennifer (Michael) Adkins of Huntington, WV; a sister, Celeste (Nick) Shimek of Canton, OH; six grandchildren, Andrew, Emily and Aiden Adkins, and Tyler, Mallory and Colin Buzzard; and three great-grandchildren, Lynden, Jordyn and Tucker.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Thursday, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville. Services will be private. Entombment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, Wheeling.
