I had the very good fortune of becoming friends with Craig, or “Herm” as I called him, in the 7th grade when I went to Moundsville Junior High and we remained lifelong friends. From the start I always appreciated his sharp wit and keen sense of humor perhaps we were kindred spirits in that regard. I always enjoyed our conversations that often centered on our shared love of music, things happening with our families, and yes even politics. I will miss him very much and I am deeply saddened with the news of his passing. I also met Mel when Craig and her first started going out together at JM. My heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Mel, Chelsea, Zane,Cullen and the entire family. God bless.

Even though I’ve been gone from Moundsville for a very long time and haven’t seen Craig over the years, my family is still there and I was deeply affected when I learned of his death on Monday. We grew up as friends and classmates from Sanford to JM, just as our parents pretty much did before us. I appreciate greatly the care and attention he gave to my brother during his extended illness a couple of year ago–a true mark of Craig’s character and love of friends. My deepest sympathies and love to Tom, Beth and Pat and the entire Madden family. Mark Polen, Charleston.
