SNYDER, Rosemary Gaus, 101, of Wheeling, WV, died Thursday, November 12, 2020 in Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

She was born November 21, 1918, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Bernard and Dora Miller Gaus.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo A. Snyder, who she married in 1944, six sisters, Ann, Dorothy, Clara Mae “Mamie”, Dolly, Sarah, and Eleanor, and three brothers, Bernard, Alfred, and infant brother Edward.

Rosemary is survived by six children, Dennis (Linda) Snyder, Leonard (Doris) Snyder, Kenneth (Linda) Snyder, Jenniene (Don) Overfield, Mary (Dave) Becker, and John (Chris) Snyder;  her thirteen grandchildren, John (Cheryl) Snyder, Denise (Karl) Radaker, David (Melody) Snyder, Chad (Christine) Snyder, Phillip (Melisa) Snyder, Edward Snyder, Matthew Snyder, Gabriellle (Todd) Gillenwater, Brian Overfield, Renee Becker, Adam (Cynthia) Becker, William Snyder, Christopher (Amber) Snyder; 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild  and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheeling, the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary, and the St. Michael Christian Mothers. She volunteered much of her time for the Welty Home and Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was an avid bowler, who loved scrabble, puzzles, and most of all her family.

The family would like to thank the staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home, especially the crew in Two Center, for treating our mother as if she was their mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, 1225 National Road, Wheeling, WV  26003, where her grandparents were original members, to the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling, WV 26003, where she volunteered for 30 years, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Due to COVID-19, visitation and funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
