Sandra Macklin

October 11, 1945 - March 6, 2022

Sandra Macklin left a legacy of love and kindness when she suddenly departed us on
March 6, 2022. She passed peacefully at the Ebeid Hospice Center in Sylvania, Ohio.
Preceded in death by her parents August and Mary Macklin, brothers Kenneth and
William Herron and sister Alice Thomason, Sandy is survived by her two loving sisters
Naomi DiLoretta of Wheeling, WV and Betty Palmer of Toledo, Ohio. She also leaves
many cousins in West Virginia as well as several nieces and nephews in West Virginia,
Michigan, Tennessee, and Ohio.
After high school Sandy attended business school. She would later move from
Wheeling to the greater Washington DC area to pursue a career with the Federal
Communication Commission. She was employed there for 50 years until her retirement
in July of 2017. She was awarded many certificates of achievement for outstanding
service during her tenure.
After retirement Sandy moved to Toledo, Ohio and was resident of Alexis Gardens.
She enjoyed venturing on the many different community outings. These trips included
visiting the Casino in Detroit, Michigan, local museums, and restaurants.
She had several hobbies and interests. She loved to read and cook. She also loved to
travel. She was blessed to have visited Rome. During which she received a blessing
from Pope John Paul II. She recently traveled to Nevada and California and was even
planning a quest to the Grand Canyon in October of 2022.
One of the greatest gifts Sandy leaves behind is her sense of charity and giving to those
in greater need. Before moving she volunteered many years teaching religious
education to 2 nd graders preparing for communion. She also delivered communion to
shut in members of her faith community. Her heart held a special love for all charities
which benefited sick children and animals.
The family requests if you would like to honor Sandy’s memory donations can be made

Sandy will be interned at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, WV alongside her
Arrangements handled by Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV.
