Stanley Michael Yonak, 89, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
He was born in Martins Ferry, OH, June 12, 1931, a son to the late Albert and Mary Yonak. Stan was a US Navy Veteran and retired from Mobay after numerous years of service. He was also a member of the Belmont-Jefferson Beagles Club and the Polish Club. Stan was an avid gardener and loved to can and share with others his produce. A devoted sports fan, his teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and anything WVU. He will be known and missed for his awesome story telling abilities and his passion for rabbit hunting with his brother.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his six siblings, Ted, George, John, Frank, Wanda and Helen.
Stan is survived by his wife, Barbara Yonak of Wheeling; further survived by his first wife, Bonnie Yonak of Martins Ferry and their four children, Erin (Joe) Barrett of Brilliant, OH, Kim (Mike) Johnson of Etters, PA, Lisa (Bob) Weber of Oshkosh, WI and Michael (Krista) Yonak of Tamarac, FL; six grandchildren, Angelo, Jarod, Matt, Rachel, Sara and Haley and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, especially the staff of 3 Center Unit, for all of their dedicated support and care.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 11 am until time of services at 1 pm, at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling. Interment and military honors will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH.
