Stephen Michael Mazure

July 31, 1941 - November 17, 2021

Avid WVU fan, Stephen Michael Mazure of Wheeling, WV passed away peacefully November 17, 2021 surrounded by family.

He was born in Grant Town, WV to Mike and Anne Smiljanic Mazure on July 31, 1941. He is survived by his wife Caroll Arnett Mazure, children Michael (Brigitte) and Gina (Jamie), brother Kenneth (Sharon), and grandsons Vance and Luke Mazure.

A 2012 inductee of the WV Broadcasting Hall of Fame, Steve was the voice of Jamboree USA in the late 60’s and early 70’s and a news anchor at WTRF TV for over 30 years. He also served as local host of the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Labor Day Telethon and Your Town on West Liberty University TV.

An active member of Our Lady of Peace Church, he was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Steve served on the boards of the Florence Crittenton Home and Children’s Home of Wheeling, and lent his talents in support of various organizations and events throughout the Ohio Valley.

As longtime host of Wheeling Hospital Today, he ended every segment with “It’s your life, live it well,” and he certainly did.

A private viewing will be held at the convenience of the family. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 pm, Monday, November 22, 2021, at Our Lady of Peace Church, with Rev. Joseph Augustine as celebrant. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Our Lady of Peace Church, Florence Crittenton Home, or the Children’s Home of Wheeling.
