Thomas C. Smith, 72 of Wheeling, WV, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 in Wheeling Hospital.
Tom was born in 1948, son of the late Harold and Dorothy Smith of Weirton, WV. He was a graduate of Weir High and West Liberty State College where he met his wife Sue and earned a degree in Graphic Arts.
Tom was the owner/operator of Berry Supply Corporation of Wheeling. He had taken over the business from his late father-in-law, Frank Voitle, operating it from 1984 until his retirement in 2018. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, kayaking, antique shopping, fixing everything around the house and making things with his hands. He especially enjoyed making pottery at Stifel Fine Arts Center.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Boerner. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sue Smith; two daughters, Heather (Dan) Henthorne and Amanda (Michael) Reckline; a son, Andrew (Amy) Smith; and four grandchildren, Jonah, Molly, Lilly and Julia, all of Wheeling
Friends will be received from 5-8 pm, Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling. Funeral services will be private. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
