Thomas O. Simms, 69, of McMechen, WV, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born April 13, 1949, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Alonzo & Marie (Vermillion) Simms.
Thomas was a retired Assistant Supervisor for the Ohio County Department of Highways District 6, a Christian by faith, a US Airforce Veteran, Free Mason, member of the Knights of Pythias, El Tor Grotto, Belmont Better Hunting/Fishing Club and member of the McMechen Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of The Family Band and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time at his camp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife, Betty Sue Simms.
Thomas is survived by his four daughters, Rachelle Zirk of Massillon, OH, Crystal (Ron) Bauer of Wheeling, Jill (Brad) Wiggins of Ashburn, VA and Loni (Joe) Richmond of Moundsville, WV; brother, Kenneth “Larry” (Margaret) Simms of Cardington, OH;five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood/McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, from 3 pm until the time of services at 5 pm, with Dr. Mitch Johnston officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the McMechen Volunteer Fire Department or Project Hope in Thomas’s name. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.altmeyerfuneralhomes.com
