Wanda Carol (Robinson) Brown, 66, of Wheeling, WV, formerly of Chester, WV, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019, in Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling.
Wanda was born March 18, 1953, in Chester, a daughter of the late Rev. Eugene and Verna (Brown) Robinson. She was a graduate of West Liberty State College and West Virginia University; and a retired teacher for Ohio County Schools, having taught at Clay Elementary School for over 23 years. She was a member of the National Honor Society while in high school; and the Who’s Who Among American High School & College Students. She was also a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Wheeling; the NAACP and the Wheeling Human Rights Commission; and a former member of many other organizations. She loved cats and enjoyed arts, crafts and quilting.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 39 years, Owens Brown; two step-children, Lennox (Shelly) Brown of Baltimore, MD, and Adrian Bledsoe of Washington, DC; a sister, Joyce Lynn Robinson of Chester; a special friend, Pauline Foster of Wheeling; and a host of extended family members.
Wanda’s family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, for the compassionate care Wanda received there over the past 20 years.
Family & friends will be received at Macedonia Baptist Church, Saturday, January 4, 2020, from 11 am until time of funeral services at 1 pm, with the Rev. Marshall Davis officiating.
