William Hanson Bardall III

William Hanson Bardall, III, 72, of Moundsville, WV, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Bill was born July 24, 1949, in Glen Dale, WV, a son of the late William Hanson Bardall, II and Agnes Jean (Sturm) Bardall. He graduated with honors from West Virginia University, with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry. He retired from Marshall County Schools and was past president of the Mount Olivet Lions Club. He also loved fishing, farming, singing and telling stories.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda (Thomas) Bardall; a daughter, Rebecca (Bardall) Welch, and her fiance, Jerry Horstman of Freeport, OH; two sisters, Mary Pettit and her husband, Ronnie of Moundsville and Jean Marie Juergens and her husband, Freddie of Camilla, GA; two grandchildren, Caeden and Cormac Welch; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 5-8 pm, Friday, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville. Friends will then be received at the funeral home on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 9 am until time of service at 11 am, with Pastor Mike Eskridge officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery, Moundsville.

Dear Linda, Becca & family, It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to our dear brother Bill. He was a pillar of faith in our church, always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He loved people, loved his family and he loved God. Bill had a generous caring heart that was open to all. Heaven is the better for his presence. Prayers for your comfort and peace. We love you, Patty and Chuck Wylie “ Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.“

Mr. Bardall was the cook at Sherrard Junior High when I was a student there. He made out of this world pepperoni rolls. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing.

So sad to hear of Bill’s passing. Sorry we will not be back for his services but will be home by months end. Linda, please call me when you can. I want to see you when we get back home. My deepest sympathies to you and all the family. I would have loved to be able to see them all and offer my condolences in person. He will be missed by all who knew him but he is at peace now. Bill Bardall, a better friend than one could ever hope for. Billy did more for me than one could ever or should ever forget. I learned so much from Billy that I wouldn't know where to start in thanking him. Billy and his mom opened their farm, and especially their hearts, to me when I needed it most. I used to call him 3, or WHB 3 while we worked in the hayfield, on fencing issues, or him teaching me to drive a big tractor, but most of all a philosophy of life I will never forget. A true friend and gentleman who always had a smile that made you feel so good inside. My deepest sympathies to Linda and Becka, and all of the family. May God smile on you. Ron
