I am saddened to learn of the passing of my fellow classmate Jeffery Blake. I had the honor of knowing Jeffery and graduating with him in 1980. As time and life send us all on different journeys in life,I had not seen him for many years. As we grew up in the quaint river town of Moundsville in the 1970’s, Jeff and I did share a few memories together. One Saturday morning Jeff and set out to go fishing. I walked from my house on Eight Street to his on Sycamore Ave, rod and reel in hand and determined to catch a few fish. We set out to fish Middle Grave creek along Fourth Street in Moundsville. We had our coffee can full of night crawlers, packed lunch and the whole day to catch our limit. I do remember us catching a couple of fish but no West Virginia state records made the stringer that day. One other memory I have is running into Jeff in town and both of us walking to Zanoons Store on Lafayette Ave in town and getting a cold glass of Hires root beer that they had on fountain. Jeffrey was a good soul and will be missed, but remembered as such. My deepest condolences to the Blake family on the loss of their son. May God watch over them and comfort them at this difficult time. Robert Montes
